Geoffrey Fletcher
1923 - 2004
Geoffrey Scowcroft Fletcher was an artist, art critic, historian and author, best known for his 1962 book 'The London Nobody Knows'. He wrote and illustrated a column for the Daily Telegraph for many years, and his drawings also appeared in the Guardian and The Sunday Times.
Fletcher had a great passion and fondness for London's unique character, and he regularly lamented the reckless post-war dismantling of its historic buildings and communities in his Telegraph column. He published many books on painting and drawing techniques, and more than 15 books on London's unique, but threatened character.
