Henry Young Alison
Henry Young Alison was a notable Scottish figure, portrait and landscape painter and teacher. He was born in Fife, the brother of artist David Alison. He studied at the Glasgow School of Art before serving in France in the First World War, where he lost the sight of one eye. He joined the staff of the Glasgow School of Art in 1927, where he taught until 1946. In later years he concentrated his efforts on own his painting. Some 30 or so of the artist's paintings are held in
public collections. He exhibited at the RSA from 1916-1921, and exhibited one work at the RA in 1920.
