Frank Lewis Emanuel
A painter, etcher, black and white artist, designer, teacher and writer, Emanuel painted landscapes, portraits, interiors and architectural subjects. He studied at University College, London, the Slade, and Juliens, Paris, and first exhibited at the RA and Paris Salon in 1886. He went on to exhibit 38 works at the Royal Academy. He was chief examiner for the Royal Drawing Society, taught etching, and collected watercolours. He was a lover of traditional art and opposed new trends in the art world, and exhibited at many leading societies and galleries.
