John Norris Wood
John Norris Wood was an important natural history illustrator, teacher and conservationist, who loved the English countryside. He dedicated his life, and his art, to nature and wildlife. He was a highly talented artist, and his art accurately reflected scientific knowledge about nature. He illustrated many books, designed postage stamps, and is noted for his animal paintings and intricate woodcuts. He was made a fellow of the RCA in 1980, and in 1997 a professor. A charming video of a conversation with John Norris Wood, made by fellow artist Professor Xavier Pick, can be viewed
