Juliet Pannett
Juliet Pannett was a prolific portraitist noted for her paintings and drawings of eminent public figures, which included nine prime ministers. Her work was celebrated in the 2004 National Portrait Gallery show 'Juliet Pannett: Chronicler of Her Times'. Much of her portrait work was reproduced in newspapers and magazines, and she was the first artist to have her own seat in the House of Commons press gallery. As well as politicians, she captured the likenesses of Royalty, musicians, servicemen, sportsmen, medical, legal and academic personalities.
Portrait of Margaret Thatcher
A label verso states that this work was exhibited in 1980, but it is likely that the portrait pre-dates the subject's election to the position of Prime Minister in 1979.
