Leslie Joseph Watson
Leslie Joseph Watson was a landscape and marine painter, born in Harrogate. He studied at Leeds College of Art and the RCA, 1928-1932. He was a founder member of the Royal Society of Marine Artists, where he exhibited regularly. He also exhibited at the RA, NEAC, LG, ROI, and elsewhere. Leslie Joseph Watson believed that modern marine painting relied too much on photographs, and that there should be more work executed directly from nature.
