William Petty
Inspired by the Argentine Pampas, William Petty is best known as a painter of gaucho scenes, polo scenes and horses. A number of paintings by the artist have been published as open edition prints. He has exhibited in the USA, Britain and elsewhere, and has work in a number of important collections, including that of Charles, Prince of Wales.
50 & 50 - A Family Meeting

The painting is believed to date to the late 1970s or early 1980s, and to depict a rugby test match between Ireland and Wales. The player in green facing the viewer is wearing a badge containing a green shamrock, and it could be argued that the 'family' referred to in the title is the Celtic family.
