Carel Weight

An influential 20th Century artist and teacher, known for his portraits, figures and townscapes, particularly of London. He was a unique painter of enigmatic, odd dramas, in which exotic events get transplanted into the suburbs.

Carel Weight was an Official War Artist. He taught at the Royal College of Art, with pupils including David Hockney, Peter Blake and Ron Kitaj. He exhibited at virtually every major venue worldwide, and his work can be found in major collections of Modern British Art throughout the world.
