Freddy Theys

A noted Belgian engraver of town scenes, portraits and botanical subjects. Studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, specialising in life drawing and engraving. His etchings and drypoints have a spirit of classical distinction, and the precision of his drawing and observation is impressive. The National Portrait Gallery, Scottish National Portrait Gallery, City of Antwerp Portrait Gallery and Inverness Museum hold his work.
