Margaret Pamela Colebourn

An artist and writer, best known as a book illustrator whose exquisite and ethereal detailed watercolour and gouache pictures have graced editions of Hans Christian Andersen stories, and other works. She worked as an illustrator, lay-out artist, designer and copywriter for publishers who included Pitman Books (Holborn), Woman and Beauty magazine (Fleet St.) and World Books Encyclopaedia (Knightsbridge). Her last post before retirement was as an illustrator at the Home Office (1966-73). Pamela Colebourn painted many works for art galleries. She had miniatures accepted on several occasions for exhibition at the RMS (Royal Society of Miniature Painters, Sculptors and Gravers), and won the Margaret Ryder non-members award at the RMS in 1986.
